My Story

My name is Megan Abubo and I am from Waikiki and Waialua on the island of O'ahu.  I have been surfing since I was 9 years old.  I have been so fortunate to live my dreams on a surfboard.  Surfing came naturally to me, but I wasn't the most naturally talented and had years of my own progression and learning curve to get me where I am today.  I spent many years as an amateur surfer winning 7 national titles.  I then progressed to the World Championship tour where I accumulated many accolades such as rookie of the year, most improved, and getting as high as world #2 in 2000.  I have won 7 WCT events and many other QS events.  My biggest accomplishment was winning at my homebred of Haleiwa in 2007 and winning the Triple Crown of Surfing that same year.  I have starred in "Blue Crush" and was a stunt double as well.  I have been in multiple surfing films and commercials.  After 16 full years on the WCT tour I decided to call it quits and stay home and enjoy this wonderful place I call home, which is Hawaii.  After year's in the luxury hospitality industry, a WSL broadcast announcer and commentator, Director of Marketing with the American Heart Association, and a youth coach and mentor with the Moore Aloha foundation I have decided to follow my passion of helping people become better surfers and I founded Fluid Surf Hawaii in 2023.  I look forward to seeing where this new venture will lead me and hope to take your surfing to the next level!
